WHO ARE THE SONS OF CONSOLATION?
“And the sons of the prophets said to Elisha, “See now, the place where we dwell with you is too small for us. Please, let us go to the Jordan, and let every man take a beam from there, and let us make there a place where we may dwell.” So he answered, “Go.” -II Kings 6:1-2 NKJV
Sons of consolation are comforters to their spiritual leaders. While the world may be attacking their Pastor, sons of consolation are succorers to him. Sons of consolation are builders, not destroyers of their Pastor’s ministry. They see needs around the ministry and rise up to meet those needs; rather than running away to other ministries that have those things. Sons of consolation are not prayer-collectors (people who run after every popular prophet to collect prayers); they sit down in humility with their Pastor or prophet, pray together diligently, until something great begins to happen in that ministry!
Did you hear what the sons of the Prophets told Prophet Elisha? They said, ‘where we are is too small, let’s go to a bigger place, we will get the building materials!’ They didn’t leave their Prophet in the small place, to look for a “bigger ministry”. They said, we will build this ministry into something big! We will give it what it requires to become big -Those were sons, not ministry attendees. They are around to work, to serve, to build, with their Leader!
Where ever you are serving (either physically, prayerfully or financially), is where God is going to reward you from. Not where you sit down to receive prayers. God rewards services, not the reception of miracles! It is Baby-Christians that run after miracles… matured Christians make miracles happen! You have to grow up to overcome your needs. Don’t abandone your spiritual leader because you found a “bigger Pastor”. Stay where your services can be noticed and be dully rewarded -Be a Builder too! Take pride in building great things, rather than taking pride in enjoying great things. Some faithful sons of consolation built that ministry that you are trying to enjoy now… be faithful with small things too! Be a son or daughter of consolation to your Prophet too.
