PRAY FOR SPIRITUAL RENEWAL“Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” Psalms 51:10 KJV
It is not only those who have fornicated or committed adultery as Christians that need to pray for spiritual renewal. Even those who have become lukewarm in their spiritual life need spiritual renewal. If you are not operating in the power of the Holy Ghost as you used to. If you are not passionate about evangelism as you used to. If your desire to study GOD’s word has reduced or died, you also need spiritual renewal. If fasting and prayer now look like stress to your physical body. If you are not bold to speak in tongues, or bold to preach to those around you. If your love for fellow Christians (near or distant) has become cold, you too need spiritual renewal.
Actually, every Christian must constantly evaluate themselves. You must learn to measure your “spiritual temperature” regularly. And this can only happen when you’re sincere with yourself. King David said; “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.” Psalms 51:17 KJV. Being broken in spirit is to accept you are wrong, be willing to change, and be humble enough to get GOD’s help to stand upright after then. Giving GOD gifts and sacrifices when you’re hiding your sins or inadequacies won’t wash your sins away. Don’t explain why you’re the way you are to GOD, simply repent and cry for renewal. That is the way to true revival, and spiritual renewal.
Jesus spoke to the Church in Ephesus. Even though they hated what He hated, and have detected fake apostles through their soundness in the truth, and have done many good works. He told them “Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent.” Revelation 2:4-5 NKJV. Genuine repentance keeps us in Him. And His help is ever available to the humble. If we would be sincere to ourselves, and to Him. Reactivate your passion for studying the word. Return to your place of long and firebrand prayer life. Get back to the street, and preach to the lost. “Remember”, look carefully, and searchout where you missed it. Repent, and do what you were doing before you fell. And your fire?will glow again. Your candle light will get trimmed to shine more. Get renewed in the spirit, before it is too late!
