WORD&POWER for TODAY
PRAY BEFORE YOU SELECT YOUR LEADERSHIP FORCE
“They prayed and said, “You, Lord, who know all hearts [their thoughts, motives, desires], show us which one of these two You have chosen.” Acts 1:24 AMP
Jesus Christ didn’t embrace everyone that came around Him into His Leadership force, He prayed effectively before selecting His leaders: “And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles.” Luke 6:12-13 KJV.
The reason you must pray is that every successful vision attracts every-one. Different kinds of people would be pulled if your vision looks bright, and if it promises great future. How would you know those who are around you to genuinely serve GOD with you? And those who came because they see you as a platform to achieve their personal aim? Note, the following are not strong enough reasons to promote anyone into leadership positions: money, regular attendance, unusual skills, education, number of years with you in the vision etc. Your major concern should be the condition of the heart. You have to know that position strengthens and empowers people. Whoever you lift up will gain people’s support. Such that if you change your mind tomorrow due to certain issues, removing the fellow will pose some challenges to you. The other Apostles had seen how Judas Iscariot, (though one of the leaders) betrayed Jesus because of money. So, they decided they must pray and ask the Lord to scan the hearts of the people they intend to choose from. “They prayed and said, “You, Lord, who know all hearts [their thoughts, motives, desires], show us which one of these two You have chosen.” Acts 1:24 AMP
People have their own ambitions, apart from your own vision. Some are around you because they hope to take your seat later in the future. Some are interested in the money the vision promises to bring. Some see you as being a Usurper of authority (as Korah and Abiram saw Moses), they wish to do things differently if they get a chance to lead. Promoting such people is to position yourself in danger. Remember, what Judas traded on was the fact that he was very close to Jesus Christ… and his “business partners” knew that too! Prayer is the solution. Since GOD sees the hearts of men, that we cannot see, let Him guide you on who should work closely with you. Don’t lay your neck under the ready knife of your enemies. Pray before you choose your leadership work force. May the Lord help you if you are a leader in any organization, in Jesus name. Amen!
