LIVE BY GOD'S STANDARD EVERYDAY“When the righteous turneth from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, he shall even die thereby. But if the wicked turn from his wickedness, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall live thereby.” Ezekiel 33:18-19 KJV
We have a lot of cases whereby the self acclaimed righteous man is pointing accusing fingers at a repentant sinner… hoping that judgment would come upon him! Whereas, the sword is actually turned towards the fellow that is saying “I-am-holier-than-thou!”
Jonah really wished that God would destroy Neneveh. He preached passionately, and the people repented, to his shock! Still he sat on the hill outside the city, waiting for fire to drop from heaven over them! Then, God began lecturing him on how to relate with repentant sinners. Sadly, many Believers are like Prophet Jonah. They actually hope that God wouldn’t forgive the same sinners they are preaching to. Self-righteousness misleads.
If you are a righteous man, check every step you take. You too should not do wrong putting your confidence in your righteousness of yesterday. If you die in that error, God would forget all the so called right things that you have ever done, and He would punish you as a sinner that you have just turned into. And if a sinner who has always lived in sin repents, stops living in sin. God will forget all the sins he has ever committed, and relate with him as a righteous man that he has become. So, we must live daily with God, checking every single step we take. His standard is the yardstick, not our own standard. Live right daily.
