LET YOUR WORDS BE BRIEF
“In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.” Proverbs 10:19 KJV
Have you sat near people who have something to contribute to every single topic raised in a public place? Mention a politician, they’d say they know how many wives he really has. Mention a footballer, they’d know the scandal he is hiding. They know details about every single Pastor in town (especially the bad stories about them). They are reservoirs of words. “For a dream comes through much activity, And a fool’s voice is known by his many words.” Ecclesiastes 5:3 NKJV. A fool’s voice is recognized by him talking endlessly!
“When there are many words, transgression and offense are unavoidable, But he who controls his lips and keeps thoughtful silence is wise.” PROVERBS 10:19 AMP. When you are upset, do your best to speak very few words. Don’t try to explain every thing you feel, you’d be wrong in the course of doing that. Because, you might find yourself using words you’d later regret ever speaking. Anyone who refrains himself from speaking many things is considered wise. People believe actions more than words. So, choose to let them see you’re right than persuading them with words to make them believe you.
It is not easy, yes! It isn’t. That is why the Bible used the word “refrian”. Which means, hold-back yourself. Silence is also a language like every other language used for communication. Sometimes, silence explains matters clearly and better, than spoken words. And I know, we hear words first in our minds before they role out of our lips. So, let’s choose what to say and what not to say all the time. Do your best to speak few words that will edify, than saying many words that will offend.
Have you been blessed by this message? …spread the WORD, share with your friends. As it is written; “The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.” -Psalms 68:11 KJV
