DON’T CALL YOUR LEADERS ARROGANT, READ.
“They gathered together against Moses and Aaron, and said to them, “You take too much upon yourselves, for all the congregation is holy, every one of them, and the Lord is among them. Why then do you exalt yourselves above the assembly of the Lord?”” Numbers 16:3 NKJV
A Bible Teacher once accused Moses of being a killer! He said that it was satan (not God) that operated when Moses said an earthquake should swallow Korah, Dathan, Abiram and their team, when they accused him and Aaron of being arrogant and self-imposing on God’s people. That Bible Teacher said that God is not a killer… I think some preachers know God better than He knows Himself.
Well, when you read the Bible by yourself (and not feed only on what someone teaches), you’d know that God has killed and punished people who trespassed or disregarded sacred offices. God struck King Uzzaiah with leprosy when he trespassed the office of the Priests, by entering the temple to offer sacrifice (2Chronicles 26:14-21). King Saul was removed from being King because he offered sacrifices and offerings; which was not his job (1Samuel 13:6-14). Uzzah was instantly killed for touching the Ark of Covenant (2Samuel 6:3-7).
Before you can disregard the office of someone, you must have no value for your own. Listen to the words from Moses’ lips when he knew about the rebellion of Korah and his team: “… Hear now, you sons of Levi: Is it a small thing to you that the God of Israel has separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to Himself, to do the work of the tabernacle of the Lord, and to stand before the congregation to serve them…? “ Numbers 16:8-9 NKJV.
The Levites occupied a special office, because they were separated by God for special ministry in the temple. But they could not see value in their office because their focus was on how Aaron and Moses instructed and led the people! This is not to say we do not sometimes get rude and oppressive leaders. I’m talking here about instances where followers choose to neglect their assignments in a ministry to start attacking and accusing their leaders.
Some people were added to some ministries to simply support financially, but they want to sit in front for everyone to see that they are the “financiers of the ministry”. The cameraman wants to cover the programmes and be seen at the same time! If the Pastor refuses to give some people special seats, they will pick offence against him. Whatever office you occupy in any ministry, that office is very special and important in the sight of God.
Be grateful to God for your role in his Kingdom. Your Leaders have to be seen, and they have to always be in front. Not because they are arrogant, but because their jobs can only be done well in front. You don’t get upset with drivers and pilots when they seat in front; do you? Why then would you get upset with your leader because he or she is the one being seen and being heard always? Respect people’s offices, and value yours too.
