WORD&POOWER for TODAY
DO NOT CLOSE YOUR EYES TO PEOPLE’S SACRIFICES TO GOD
“Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?’ John 12:5 KJV
Doesn’t this statement sound like what many people are saying about Preachers, and Churches? Why these waste?! What is the point of having two cars? Why these huge and gigantic buildings? Why have private jets? Why not distribute these monies to the poor? These are rhetorical questions a lot of people ask themselves, and among themselves.
Wisdom has taught me to not listen to the words that drop from people’s lips, but to what their hearts are saying. The hearts speak better and clearly, than the lips of many! Those people who speak against the Church and against wealthy Pastors, ask them; in what way have they shown compassion to the poor in their own little ways? Which of their own belongings, have they sold to feed the poor to demonstrate their love and true compassion for the needy? You would find that they are the most callous set of humans you can ever find. Very callous! Because, if one is not callous, he cannot look away from the numerous Churches these Men of GOD have built with so much sacrifices and sleepless nights. He cannot look away from the communities that have turned from jungles into cities. If one isn’t callous, he cannot look away from the potential criminals that have become Pastors, because these Men of GOD prayed and worked hard on evangelism! Think of the educational institutions they have built to equip Christians with adequate knowledge to succeed in the world. Think of the Police stations they have constructed to assist communities. What about roads, help to orphans and widows etc. Always remember: ”This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.” Joh 12:6 .
I love Jesus, because He doesn’t support hypocrisy: ”Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this. For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always” John12:7-8. Did you see that the negative critic was blind to the mystery behind the lady’s offering? He was seeing huge money being wasted on Jesus, but Jesus was seeing a prophetic and strategic action from her. The lady offering the sacrifice was simply seeing worship. There is no amount of money we can spend in the Church, on Jesus Christ, or on a Man of GOD, that should be called a waste. Because, Jesus paid the biggest price for us. What is money compared to His sacrifice? The Ministers of GOD are doing the most tasking and delicate job on earth, do not join satan to fight them. If you cannot give, do not discourage those who are giving. The expensive perfume is not yours, and the owner has not requested for a Financial Adviser; she just wants to worship! She wants to celebrate the One who loved her so much, in a way no one ever would. If you do not want GOD to fight you, do not stand in between Him, and those who offer Him sacrifices!
