“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” -James 1:22 NKJV
“Preach it Pastor!” “Yes! Say it” “Preach on Servant of God!” These words are great to encourage the Preacher; but you should make sure you do what is being preached, if you want to be truly blessed!
Actions, they say, speak louder than words. Whenever you hear a sermon, or read a message that is instructive, or directly applies to your life; act on it instantly! Don’t just relish great messages, act on them! That way, the message will become part of your life. Whereas, hearing well, but not doing, will make you soon forget what the message was about: *”For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.”* -James 1:23-24 NKJV.
*”But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.”* -James 1:25 NKJV. So, you can see that the blessing is for the doer, not the hearer! Act upon whatever you know. Because, wisdom is the right application of knowledge! If you don’t do what you know, you’re worse than the person who does not know! Always act on God’s Word, if you want to be truly blessed by Him.
