CHOOSE YOUR TEAM WISELY
“Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honour in abundance, and joined affinity with Ahab.” 2 Chronicles 18:1 KJV
Jehoshaphat, the King of Judah was an exact opposite of Ahab, King of Israel. “… the Lord was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim; But sought to the Lord God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.” 2 Chronicles 17:3-4 KJV. But concerning Ahab, hear Prophet Jehu: “And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Shouldest thou help the ungodly, and love them that hate the Lord? therefore is wrath upon thee from before the Lord.” 2 Chronicles 19:2 KJV. Ahab was godless, because he hated the Lord. He would not do what GOD commanded.
Jehoshaphat joined forces with Ahab to go to a battle that actually belonged to Ahab. He could have died in that battle instead of Ahab, due to the evil counsel Ahab gave him. The Prophet Micaiah had said Ahab would die in the battle. He believed it, yet he pretended as if he didn’t. He locked the Prophet in the prison, and chose to dress like a common warrior to the battle. But, he told Jehoshaphat to remain dressed as king to the battle (2 Chronicles 18:1-34). Is that not an evil man? Had GOD not helped Jehoshaphat, he would have been killed by the Syrian soldiers (2 Chronicles 18:30-32). Whereas, Jehoshaphat was a king that GOD had put fear upon the nations around him, such that they could not fight him. Rather, they were bringing gifts to him. “And the fear of the Lord fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat. Also some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents, and tribute silver; and the Arabians brought him flocks, seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred he goats.” 2 Chronicles 17:10-11 KJV.
Do not join forces with godless people. Before you sign any partnership agreement, let GOD be in between you and the partner. Else, you might be signing your death warrant! ‘No!’ Is a good answer for some friends. Don’t be afraid to decline an offer from a friend you do not trust. Question their suggestions, if you cannot find GOD inside. Jehoshaphat knew Ahab as godless, yet he engaged him in partnership. That could have cost him his life. Be wise, make friends with people who pray and follow divine guidance. Make friends with people who lift GOD’s word above gain and profits. Be far from friends who attack servants of GOD. Evil company can drag you down, and possibly destroy you. Choose your team wisely!
