BE A FRIEND INDEED, AND A BROTHER INDEED
“A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.” Proverbs 17:17 KJV
Those who leave you when things are not so good are not your friends. Because, true friends love at all times. Whether good, or bad, true friends will love you anyway. If your trouble is beyond them to fix, they’d sincerely intercede for you… And stand with you until your glorious change happens.
True friends are not fans. Fans are those who only celebrate your success, but they’d leave you when you seem to be failing. Friends are different, they’d stick with you even when you have failed. In life, there are times we call dark days. These days are described as days of adversities. Days when you pray, and it looks like heaven is silent on you. All your efforts seem fruitless. You look like a fool to everyone around you. Whoever stands with you in such days are your brothers indeed, and your true friends.
If you call anyone your friend, love him at all times. All times means when he’s doing well and when he is not doing well. If you call yourself a brother to someone, stand with him in his dark days. In fact, the word of GOD says you were “born for” that “… a brother is born for adversity”. Meaning, that is your purpose as a brother to somebody. Standing with someone going through adversities is one of the ways to fulfill your purpose as a Christian brother. Apostle John speaks here: “Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.” 1 John 3:16, 18 KJV. The word of GOD is the lamp unto my feet, and the light to my path, not my experience with certain believers. I vow to love my friends at all times, and to stand with my brothers in their days of adversities. You too should do the same.
