LOOK IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION
_*”I will lift up my eyes to the hills [of Jerusalem]— From where shall my help come?”*_ PSALMS 121:1 AMP
Whenever we find ourselves in any form of distress or need, the first places that come to mind are the usual places we get help. Such as our bank account, a helpful close relation, a reliable friend etc.
Such was the thought of the Psalmist. Jerusalem is a city surrounded and shielded by hills. So, it is a form of protection from invading enemies. When trouble looms, the Psalmist quickly thinks, the hills are there for shield and protection. We can be very wrong trusting in hills and human powers to save us from trouble. The arm of flesh will always fail.
Shift your focus from the hills. Remove your attention from those people, and those places you have always leaned on for help. Put your trust and faith in GOD -The Maker of the hills. In fact, The Maker of all of Heaven and earth. Read this aloud to yourself: _*”My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your {my} foot to slip; He who keeps you {me} will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel {OLA, put your name there}Will neither slumber [briefly] nor sleep [soundly]. The Lord is your {my} keeper; The Lord is your {my} shade on your {my} right hand. The sun will not strike you {me} by day, Nor the moon by night. The Lord will protect you {me} from all evil; He will keep your {my} life. The Lord will guard your {my} going out and your {my} coming in [everything that you {I} do] From this time forth and forever.”*_ PSALMS 121:2-8 AMP (paraphrased). Look up to GOD -not to the hills or to those people or places that seem to have the capacity to help you. You might be massively dissapointed. GOD owns them, and everything. So, look up to Him!
