REASON PEOPLE SOMETIMES GET UPSET WITH GOD
“And when they had received it, they murmured against the goodman of the house, saying, these last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day.” -Matthew 20:11-12 KJV
When God visits a family, He chooses the last born and bypasses the first. People queue up in front of Him to receive His blessings, He starts the process from the last man on the queue! He lifts the poor from the dunghill and make him seat with the princes of the land! To show them, He promotes whoever He wants!
The problem that people have with God is how he simplifies what makes them different, better, smarter, and so on, than others! Read the whole story; you’d find the boss only negotiated wages with the first workers. Others he told he would give them whatever he thought was right. And, they could not argue with him, because they already lost the power to bargain, since their employments were late. Yet, when he was ready to pay them their wages, he instructed his cashier: “… call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first.” -Matthew 20:8 KJV. Starting from the back, he gave the same wage to those who worked only one hour, as well as the ones that did three, six, nine, and twelve hours, respectively. Giving no regard to how long they had stayed under the sun, and spitting how much work they had done!
He intentionally didn’t disclose how much He would pay the late guys. He knew they would be expecting low pay, due to their late hire. So, He wanted to surprise them with a miracle, and to show them His goodness, by paying them full day’s pay! As if they resumed early like the first guys! He also wanted to show them, that, waking up to stay by the road in search of work was enough reason they deserved the best!! He taught the first guys humility and contentment. And, to let us all know, we should not look down on those who arrive late; either to success or to the school of life! God determines what we all call reward for our labours, so let’s please Him only!
