WHEN JESUS COULD NOT DO MUCH
“And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.” Mark 6:5-6 KJV
Jesus had asked some people what they thought or have heard about him; and their responses were such that he was the reincarnate Prophet Elijah. Others said he was a reborn of Prophet Jeremiah, or some other prophets! Peter by revelation declared He was the expected Christ, and the Son of the Living God! All these sounded great, because they perceived, appreciated, and focused on the supernatural dimension of Jesus Christ!
But, in this very community where Jesus had lived and grown, He couldn’t do much supernatural works, because of how they chose to see Him! “Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.” -Mark 6:3 KJV. They got offenses, instead of getting blessings and miracles!! Quite well, they knew the mighty works that Jesus could do, they have heard His great teachings as well and they marveled. But, they did not drop the natural lens through which they have always seen Him! “Carpenter”, biological relations of this and that! All they focused on was the natural part of Jesus, not His supernatural! That is where they cut themselves off of His abilities to do mighty works for them! The Holy Spirit thrives when God is honored upon the vessels He is using!
“But Jesus said unto them, a prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.” Mark 6:4 KJV. If you accommodate God’s anointed, or you live close to one, or you are directly related to them; if you benefit greatly from their grace, I will call you a highly spiritually smart person! You must be exceptionally spiritually intelligent to benefit from a Messenger of God that you are very close to! Because, your flesh {and the devil} will keep magnifying their humanity over their spirituality to you. So that you can lose what God could use them to do for you!! If you are spiritually smart, you will give honor to whoever deserve it, whether related or not!
