WORD & POWER for TODAY
… enlightening your human spirit.
THAT SEED-SOWER WASN’T A FARMER
“A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it. And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture. And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it. And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.” Luke 8:5-8 KJV
No farmer will plant his seeds in pathways, such that people could walk upon them. Farners will not plant their seeds on rocks. Farmers will clear off thorny grass before planting their seeds; they won’t just throw their seeds into thorny and bushy fields. Because, seeds are very precious to farmers. Farmers are very frugal and careful with their seeds. To a farmer, seeds are what gold is to the goldsmith! Because, seeds secure their future! Farmers don’t want to waste a single one!
But, in this parable of the Seed-sower, Jesus speaks of extravagance. He portrays an intentionally extravagant farmer! Who as he walked, knowingly drops the seeds in his paths!! He takes seeds from his bag and just throws them around; not minding where they land. It was only an allegory!!! Jesus later told us that the seeds are God’s Word: “Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.” Luke 8:11 KJV. So, the Sower in that parable was a Preacher of God’s Word, not a Farmer!
God’s Word is very precious and loaded with tremendous power; yet it is freely and generously disseminated everywhere. On all social media platforms, in the streets, in Buses, everywhere and anywhere, you will find God’s Word flying and lying around! You, the receiver of God’s Word are to determine the kind of field you are. Are you a fertile ground that will multiply what you have received, producing multiple fruits in turn?? Or you are like those unproductive fields where the word of God becomes unfruitful. Do you allow human beings to trample on sacred instructions that you have received? Or do you allow satan to steal the word from your mind and your spirit? Or do you discard the word of God due to lack of depth (proper meditation on God’s word), or concerns for the matters of this world? Let God gain whenever His Word comes to you! Be a fruitful field!! Act on whatever you receive from Him.
