EVEN THE APOSTLES DID NOT BELIEVE
“It was Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and other women that were with them, which told these things unto the apostles. And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not.” Luke 24:10-11 KJV
I quite remember the reaction of Apostles James and John; when a certain village of the Samaritans rejected Jesus Christ; they wanted to destroy the inhabitants of that village with fire from Heaven! “And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?” -Luke 9:54 KJV.
When Jesus resurrected as He had promised the Apostles, and these “tittleless” and simple women preached the Gospel to them, that Jesus had risen from the dead, the Apostles did not believe! They treated the story of these women like idle tales!! They disbelieved them. Yet, the women did not ask for fire, thunder and lightening to destroy them for disbelieving the Gospel! Jesus kept visiting them, ate with them, showed them His nailed hands and pierced side; until they finally believed!
The Bible says, every High Priest is required to “… have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity.” -Hebrews 5:2 KJV. Christians should stop acting like they were born saints! We look at sinners as people that are made for the fires!! When people turn down our good messages, our love, and our good services; we wish that God would just punish or destroy them! Please, let’s be patient with those who reject our Good News. Let us pray for those who are spiritually ignorant around us. Don’t wish that God would destroy those people that rejected your ministry; pray for them to be spiritually enlightened! Maybe tomorrow, as the Apostles later believed, and took every nation and city they entered for Jesus Christ, those seeming unbelievers around you might do the same!
