WORD & POWER for TODAY
WILLING SPIRIT, WEAK FLESH
“Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.” Mark 14:38 KJV
Sincere promises of loyalty and dedication to the services of Jesus Christ are not enough fuel to sustain anyone in Christian services. It was not just Peter, but all the Apostles that assured Jesus of their commitment to Him; but when trouble came, they all fled for their lives!
Close to two decades ago, someone told me; “God asked me to follow you”. I told him to go back and pray again to hear well! Because, church membership and discipleship, are not the same! If you’re a member of a church or ministry, you can switch your membership to another Godly fellowship near your house or as you find suitable for you. Discipleship is for life-unless God speaks otherwise! It must be through thick and thin; through the fire and the waters. Over the mountains and through the valleys! You should follow whoever God asks you to follow!
In the place of prayer, God selected the Apostles for Jesus Christ; but due to their prayerlessness, they fled from Him when they saw a situation beyond their spiritual stamina! The regenerated human spirit is always interested in any godly thing; but the flesh is always the major deterrent! Conquer your flesh! Be prayerful, and be watchful; the Spirit of God will supply the grace you need for the race!
