GET OIL FOR YOUR LAMPS
“Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.” Matthew 25:3-4 NKJV
You probably are aware of the story about the Ten Virgins. Five were foolish and five were wise; according to Jesus Christ. Please, do note that being virgins means being pure and clean. The Ten Virgins were saints, they have kept themselves pure as they waited for the Bridegroom. Now, according to Jesus Christ; it is possible to be a Saint and yet be foolish! He makes it clear that holiness and wisdom are two different virtues. Read on …
Let me explain this story to you in three different ways … Who are the foolish virgins? Who are the virgins that took lamps without oil?
1. SAINTS/WITNESSES WITHOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT: The lamp is the knowledge of God’s word. The lamp is the light, our guide-for-life. Without the knowledge of the word of God, we will all be groping around in the darkness through this world. “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Psalms 119:105 NKJV. But, the word is not enough, we need the Holy Spirit too! Jesus firmly warned His disciples; “And you are witnesses of these things. Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem UNTIL {ie “go no where, except”} you are endued with power from on high.” Luke 24:48-49 NKJV (emphasis mine). Without the Holy Spirit, you cannot be effective as a Christian, not to talk of being an effective Witness for Jesus Christ. Read Acts 1:8.
Counsel: If you are born-again, but not yet filled with the Holy Spirit, you need to be prayed for now. You can ask for the Holy Spirit from God-The Father through the name of Jesus Christ, or contact us right now for immediate prayer?!
2. SAINTS WHO DO NOT RELATE WITH OTHER SAINTS: A lot of Christian skeptics are possessed with the demon of critism; without their knowledge. When you see a Christian who condemns or sees everything wrong with every other Christian, he has a demon! Demons don’t like unity in Christianity. They want separation; they isolate their victims. God wants His family together, and He wants them to work in partnership for global evangelization. But, satan wants them apart. The oil of the person who chooses to run alone will soon dry-up, and the lamp would soon go out! “And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’” Matthew 25:8 NKJV.
Counsel: We indeed need to select like-minds, and people who love God genuinely, if we must remain pure and effective for the Lord. But, when you find good Christians, do not let the devil separate you from them through petty offenses and mere unfounded suspicions. God blesses, and pours more oil upon the gatherings of His people (read Psalms 133:1-3).
3. SAINTS/MINISTERS WHO DO NOT RECEIVE IMPARTATIONS FROM OTHER MINISTERS: “And he said to me, “What do you see?” So I said, “I am looking, and there is a lampstand of solid gold with a bowl on top of it, and on the stand seven lamps with seven pipes to the seven lamps. TWO OLIVE TREES ARE BY IT, one at the right of the bowl and the other at its left.” So he answered and said to me: “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘NOT BY MIGHT NOR BY POWER,, BUT BY MY SPIRIT, ’ Says the Lord of hosts. Then I answered and said to him, “WHAT ARE THESE TWO OLIVE TREES-AT THE RIGHT OF THE LAMPSTAND AND AT ITS LEFT?” And I further answered and said to him, “What are these two olive branches that drip into the receptacles of the two gold pipes from which the golden oil drains?” Then he answered me and said, “Do you not know what these are?” And I said, “No, my Lord.” So he said, “THESE ARE THE TWO ANOINTED ONES, who stand beside the Lord of the whole earth.”” Zechariah 4:2-3, 6, 11-14 NKJV. The Two Olive Trees (representing two Anointed Ones) supplied constant oil for the lampstand to keep burning?.
Counsel: If you want to last-long and remain relevant in life and in ministry, you need regular supply of oil and grace. You should humbly submit yourself to those who can supply constant oil into your life and ministry. Your oil is not enough to last a lifetime, you need more oil regularly from higher or other ministers of God. Humility and wisdom are necessary here.
IN CONCLUSION: If you want to be in the class of the Wise Virgins, make sure you get extra oil stored-up as you await the return of the Master.
