UNGODLY FIGHTS FOR THE TOP

“But they kept silent, for on the road they had disputed among themselves who would be the greatest.” Mark 9:34 NKJV

Jesus asked His disciples, ‘what were you arguing about on the road?’ Instead of telling Him, they all went silent. Obviously, wisdom would tell one that their subject of discussion must have been be a shameful one.

Think about it. They were arguing among themselves that they were greater than one another! It was not a deliberation, it was a debate …a heated argument! Alright, if one of them won the debate, would that make him the ruler over others? Is ministry about debates and arguments? Is it about who is most eloquent? Can one in ministry commend himself? Can one give himself awards? Can one also give himself reward for his work in the ministry?

Do your services to God, and wait for your reward! That is ministry! We are not called to segregate, or assume rulership over our brethren. Jesus knew the right answer for the confused: “Sitting down [to teach], He called the twelve [disciples] and said to them, “If anyone wants to be first, he must be last of all [in importance] and a servant of all.”” Mark 9:35 AMP. So, watch out for those who look like “house-helps” in the body of Christ. Those who look like attendants. Those “not-so-smarts”. Believe me, they have the Lord’s attention. We need to stop the bickerings. Arguments must stop among Christians in order for us to be truly effective. Let’s leave the top for those whom the Lord decides to put there. Let us just serve!
