WORD&POWER for TODAY
WHEN GOD REFUSES TO EXPLAIN HIMSELF
“And he recognized it and said, “It is my son’s tunic. A wild beast has devoured him. Without doubt Joseph is torn to pieces.” Then Jacob tore his clothes, put sackcloth on his waist, and mourned for his son many days.” Genesis 37:33-34 NKJV
Was Jacob no longer a Prophet? Had he lost his spiritual gifts of dreams and hearing God speak? How could he not know that the blood that stained his son’s tunic was that of an animal, and not his son’s? Why didn’t God visit him in the night to tell him he had been fooled by his sons? At least, that could have saved him the agony and consistent heartache of envisaging how his favorite son was turn to shreds by some beasts. Think about the guilt he would feel that he sent him out that day!
I saw God do the same when Jesus resurrected. The guards at the tomb were bribed by the rulers in the land to say that Jesus’ disciples stole His body from the tomb; that He did not resurrect on the third day. That would make Jesus look like a liar, about being able to resurrect on the third day. Yet, Jesus did not appear to them in the palace to prove them wrong. He rather focused on His assignment-His disciples and everything He needed to do then. He did not explain Himself to the rulers, or to those who believed their lies.
You and I might have experienced such instances too. Instances where you wished someone would just speak for you, or at least explain things to prove you right. Instances where you wished God would explain what is going on around you to you. Permit me to say that God knows the best way to relate with everyone of us. He knows the best way to comfort and evetually prove us right. If God doesn’t explain Himself to you, walk on with Him by faith. Just keep trusting Him. Even if your world is seemingly falling apart, trust Him still. You are supposed to believe Him, whether good or bad. Jacob didn’t denounce God on the grounds that He did not protect His son from danger. He kept walking with Him, still. Jesus didn’t feel bad that He was being painted as a liar-He kept His focus! God is supreme, relate with Him as such.
