OVERCOMING ARROGANCE“Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.” Daniel 4:37 KJV
No one is able to humble a proud heart, except God Almighty and the proud person himself. God dared Job: “Have you an arm like God? Or can you thunder with a voice like His? Then adorn yourself with majesty and splendor, And array yourself with glory and beauty. Disperse the rage of your wrath; Look on everyone who is proud, and humble him. Look on everyone who is proud, and bring him low…” Job 40:9-12 NKJV. Of course! God knew Job could not, and the truth is, no man can!
Correct or rebuke a proud man, and he’d get offended instead of evaluating what you are saying. Only God, and the proud fellow himself, can humble his heart. However, it is important for you to know that God’s method of humbling people is always very touch! Believe me, it is something you do not want to experience! So, He advices us to humble ourselves, by our own selves! He wants us to be intentional about our humility. We should be deliberate about our actions. Be in charge of your attitude towards people, and God! “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time.” I Peter 5:6 NKJV. Do it yourself!
Do not ever pray that God should humble you, if you notice any pride in your attitudes. Address that pride by yourself-because, it is cheaper, and safer that way! Jesus advised: “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:29 NKJV. Let Jesus Christ be your Mentor. Learn humility from Him, and you’d never be wrong.
