WORD&POWER for TODAY
READ JEREMIAH 20, BEFORE YOU CRITICIZE ANOTHER PREACHER
“Then I said, “I will not make mention of Him, Nor speak anymore in His name.” But His word was in my heart like a burning fire shut up in my bones; I was weary of holding it back, and I could not.” Jeremiah 20:9 NKJV
Jeremiah 20 only contains 18 verses. You should read it now before you finish the rest of this message. In this chapter, you would find the reason why God can kill those who speak ill of His Servants. Think of how God struck Mariam with leprosy because she spoke badly about Prophet Moses, even though he was her younger brother.
How can you be guiltless when you attempt to write-off someone that already wrote himself off before God strengthened and assured him to serve Him …? Think about how much work God did, think about the debate that ensued between God and Moses before Moses eventually succumbed to step into ministry. In fact, God had to use a harsh tone before He could persuade Moses to start the work: “So the anger of the Lord was kindled against Moses, and He said: “Is not Aaron the Levite your brother? I know that he can speak well. And look, he is also coming out to meet you. When he sees you, he will be glad in his heart.” Exodus 4:14 NKJV. That was because even though Moses had seen the power that God demonstrated, he was still adamant. He completely felt unqualified to serve God!
Jeremiah was not an exception. He actually felt God had “deceived” him! Think about being called a “Prophet of doom!” because of the message you’re preaching. Whereas, you’re not the source of that message; God is! “For when I spoke, I cried out; I shouted, “Violence and plunder!” Because the word of the Lord was made to me a reproach and a derision daily. Then I said, “I will not make mention of Him, nor speak anymore in His name.” But His word was in my heart like a burning fire shut up in my bones; I was weary of holding it back, and I could not.” Jeremiah 20:8-9 NKJV. I wish I could write more on this right now. But, please, if you are a football or political analyst, keep at that. When the discussion is about ministry and the Kingdom of God, think twice before you criticize anyone.
If you have been blessed by this message, please share it. As it is written; “The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.” Psalms 68:11. GOD will bless you greatly for spreading His Word!
