WORD&POWER for TODAY
CHANGE YOUR METHOD, IF YOU NEED TO
“Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No. And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.” John 21:5-6 KJV
One of the attributes of wisdom is the ability to evaluate. You must be able to check constantly whether what you’re doing is fetching the desired results or not. I do not believe you should die doing the same thing that is not producing the results you want; unless you have heard a voice telling you to keep doing it!
Think about it, the fishes are just on the other side of the ship; the “right side”. But, Peter and his team were throwing the nets to the left. We are sometimes like that too! We often believe we have all the required training and the experience needed to excel in certain desired ventures. Then, as we begin, we realize success isn’t forthcoming. When it comes to spiritual matters, success is not about experience or trainings alone; doing the “right” things at the right time matters a lot. Peter could have argued and won the debate with Jesus instead of simply changing the method as the Master advised. Vocationally, Jesus was a carpenter, Peter had been a fisherman all his life.
Instead of trying to win a debate, Peter simply changed the method. He did what the Master said should be done and he and his team got the catch that they could not pull in. My friend, the big success you have been looking for might just be on the other side. If your Church isn’t growing, don’t say “people-hate-the-truth”. Jesus is the Truth in person, and multitudes followed Him when He did His ministry here on earth. You might be doing that ministry wrongly …or in a wrong place! Or is it your business that has “refused to pick”? Check what you’re selling, and the location of that business. You cannot do the same things over and over again, in the same way, and get a different result. Be open to counsel. Pray for direction. Tell GOD to show you what you need to know. Please, I beg you, do not ever classify failure and unfruitfulness as “God’s will”…or signs of quality. Whatever we lay our hands upon should prosper, if we are truly Believers. If you get anything short of prosperity, ask questions to know why things are that way, or consider changing your method!
