YOU'RE COMING OUT STRONG, TALK TO HIM“I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.” Psalms 40:1-2 KJV
Sincere evaluation of your present spiritual position and status is what would make you pray certain prayers. You must know if you’re high up there on the rock, or down there in the pit. To not know where you presently stand spiritually is dangerous-and in fact, could be due to hypocrisy.
David knew when he was in the pit, a horrible pit at that; and when he was in a miry clay {a slimy situation, such that getting out was difficult}. And he also knew when GOD lifted him out of the pit and planted his feet upon a rock. Self deception is when you’re doing the wrong, or walking in sin, and you assume that grace would “cover” you. You should know your present spiritual location. “Test and evaluate yourselves to see whether you are in the faith and living your lives as [committed] believers. Examine yourselves [not me]! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves [by an ongoing experience] that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you fail the test and are rejected as counterfeit?” 2 Corinthians 13:5 AMP.
There are pits that the enemies dig for GOD’s children, and there are pits that they fall into by themselves while walking outside GOD’s word. There are slimy situations that Believers walk into when doing things contrary to GOD’s word. Whatever it is, if you can pray to GOD, as David prayed when he fell into the pit, your cry will be heard, and you will be lifted out of that horrible pit …and out of that miry clay. Set out time to speak to GOD. Cry to Him if you must. Don’t build a home in the pit, don’t create a bed in the miry clay, cry to get lifted out! There is a rock you should be standing on. There is a steady and solid path GOD wants you to follow. Prayer changes things, and prayer causes relocations! GOD is not done with you, pray!
